Xerox AltaLink and security

If you have a Xerox AltaLink or are considering one, I want to bring to your attention a security certification that was received by the Xerox AltaLink devices, says Cheryl Otstott, Xerox Social Media Project Manager. Please read this announcement for the details and follow the links for further information.

Xerox AltaLink devices achieve Common Criteria Certification for security

Achieving Common Criteria Certification is not so common. That's why Xerox is especially proud to receive the industry's most stringent information security standard certification from National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).

In fact, its AltaLink multifunction printers (MFPs) are the first to be certified by NIAP under rigorous new testing standards - the latest Common Criteria security protection for hardcopy devices. Here are a few things to know about this protection profile:

* It intends to protect the information processed by an MFP from security threats.
* It includes stringent new requirements for cryptography, authentication and secure protocols.
* Testing is conducted by independent labs, resulting in the most up-to-date and stringent security endorsement for SMBs, large enterprises and governments.

XeroxAltaLink high-volume MFPs

NIAP and Common Criteria Certification give Xerox customers - particularly federal government agencies - assurance that its new AltaLink devices have world-class security protection built-in, and that their critical information is safe.

Xerox ConnectKey Technology turns AltaLink MFPs into smart, connected workplace assistants that reflect the evolving needs of today's businesses. This includes simple, secure, on-the-go capabilities, cloud connectivity, and mobile access to productivity-boosting features and apps.

Xerox's 4-point approach to device security

Through partnerships with companies like McAfee, Xerox offers benchmark printer security protection with an innovative whitelisting defence against viruses. This is one part of its four-point approach to comprehensive printer security for ConnectKey technology-enabled products like AltaLink. This approach includes:

* Intrusion prevention.
* Device detection.
* Document and data protection.
* External partnerships.
