SAP Business One accounting and ERP software system specialist 4most Botswana has implemented a SAP software solution at the Gaborone and Windhoek operations of major sales, merchandising, warehousing, FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) and commodities distributor, the CA Group, headquartered in Gaborone.
Recently, CA expanded its operations in to Namibia, with two large warehouses in Windhoek that required that the SAP software system originally implemented in Gaborone had to be extended to Windhoek.
CA Group financial controller Kaushik Shah says the company employs more than 1 200 people, and in Botswana alone its warehousing capacity accommodates more than 45 000 tons of foodstuffs and household goods at any given time for distribution to 400 sales points.
“We have a fleet of 120 trucks ranging in capacity from four tons to very large 30-ton rigs, to deliver goods to customers and our depots strategically positioned to allow us to service main centres within 24 hours, and outlying areas within 48 hours.”
Shah adds that the company's highly developed and sophisticated wireless network and an in-house IT department, with more than 70 network users, ensure accurate entry of orders and timeous dispatch to customers.
“We recently implemented a SAP Business One solution at our newly constructed headquarters building in Gaborone, through SAP Business One specialist 4most Botswana, which has offices in Gaborone, and they subsequently extended the SAP system to the Namibian operation.”
Quinn Verburgt, 4most Botswana senior consultant, said the implementation, commissioning and full operation of the SAP Business One installation for the CA Group Namibia operation was completed within a week.
“We also implemented a bespoke discount matrix to allow CA to apply multiple discounts on a single item as a percentage, a volume discount or a quantity discount. The discounts can be programmed to vary over specific periods of time. The system saves considerable manual work and is flexible, allowing discounts to be set up and automatically applied to specific goods or purchases, or to a particular customer or groups of customers.”
